How to crop a picture
- Open it. Drop the picture on this page, press Choose Picture, paste it with Ctrl/⌘ + V, or take a photo on your phone.
- Frame it. Drag the box, pull a corner, or tap a shape such as 1:1 or 16:9. Straighten a tilted horizon with the slider.
- Save it. Press Crop Picture, pick a format if you want a different one, and download — or copy or share it straight into a chat.
Most crops take four actions and a few seconds. Nothing is installed and nothing asks you to sign in.
Crop to an exact size in pixels
Every number you see is the number you get. Type a width, height and the X/Y position of the top-left corner, and the crop box moves to match; drag the box and the numbers follow. Sums work in the fields — 1920/2 or +10 — and the zoom has a true 100% view for checking edges on screenshots.
Crop size is the part taken from your picture; output size is an optional final size such as 1200 × 630. They are kept separate on purpose, and CropPicture never enlarges a picture without asking. See cropping by pixels for the details.
Choose any aspect ratio
One tap locks the frame to a common shape: 1:1, 4:3, 3:2, 16:9 or 9:16, with 5:4, 4:5, 2:3, 3:4, 21:9 and 1.91:1 under More. Type any other ratio yourself, decimals included (2.39:1 works). When a ratio cannot land on whole pixels — 16:9 at 1919 pixels wide, say — the panel shows the ratio you would actually get and offers the nearest exact size.
Crop without losing quality
By default the cropped picture keeps the full resolution of the original, and nothing is resampled unless you ask for a different output size. For JPG photos there is something better: lossless crop cuts the file on its own internal block grid, so the pixels you keep are exactly the data your camera saved — no second round of compression at all.

Your pictures never leave your device
CropPicture has no upload step because it has no server to upload to: the site is plain static files, and the cropping engine runs in your browser. Location data is removed from every exported file. The only third-party scripts on the site are the advertising and anonymous analytics scripts; session recorders and heatmaps are banned. The privacy page explains what that means in practice.
Frequently asked questions
Is my picture really never uploaded?
Yes. CropPicture is a set of static files — there is no server that could receive a picture. Opening, cropping and saving all happen inside your browser tab, and every release is checked by an automated test that watches the network while pictures are cropped. How that works.
Can I crop an iPhone HEIC photo?
Yes. If your browser reads HEIC itself it does; otherwise CropPicture loads a HEIC decoder the first time you open one. The result is saved as JPG by default, because almost nothing else can open HEIC.
Will a PNG keep its transparent background?
Yes — PNG, WebP and AVIF output keep transparency. JPG cannot store it, so if you pick JPG the export panel says what colour the transparent parts will become before you download anything.
Why does lossless mode move my crop by a few pixels?
A JPEG is stored in blocks of 8 or 16 pixels. To cut one without re-compressing, the top-left corner of the crop must sit on a block edge, so it snaps to the nearest one. The numbers on screen are updated to match, so what you see is still exactly what you get.
Is there a size limit?
No caps, no daily limit, no watermark. Very large photos (48 MP and up) open as a fast preview and the full-resolution crop is made when you export. If a particular browser cannot process a size safely, you get a plain explanation and alternatives rather than a crash.
How do I remove white borders automatically?
Open Trim edges in the tools section. It finds rows and columns of one uniform colour — or transparency — at each edge and sets the crop to the content inside. A tolerance slider handles slightly noisy scans.
