How to crop a picture to a square
- Open your picture — the a square frame is already locked in place.
- Drag the frame onto the part you want and pull a corner to resize it; it keeps its shape however you drag.
- Press Crop Picture and download, copy or share the result.
What square crops are for

Centring the subject
The square opens centred on the picture. Drag it onto the subject; with a person, keep the eyes a little above the middle rather than dead centre, and leave space above the head. For exact placement, type X and Y, or use the arrow keys to move the square one pixel at a time (ten with Shift).

Yes. With 1:1 locked, width equals height whatever you do — drag any handle, type a number, rotate or straighten.
How do I make a square without cutting anything off?
A crop always removes part of the picture. Fitting the whole picture into a square means adding padding around it, which is a different job from cropping.
What size should a square profile picture be?
400 × 400 or larger for profile pictures; 1080 × 1080 for square posts. Set it as the output size and the crop stays 1:1.
